23 things to do in your life!!

23 things – my thoughts

Yes I’m cheating!! I’m writing a “my thoughts” on my blog as my final 23 things farewell. I’m not summarizing on each session but merely giving my thought on the entire project. You probably don’t know this but I have attempted to complete this project 3 times now and feel extremely proud that this time I achieved!! I achieved a lot in fact, not just finishing but in learning!

Some very useful sites have been exposed and explored and although I may not use some directly for work I will certainly use many in my everyday exploits. I have a friend living in Dubai who is an avid Facebook user, so communications are fast and furious between us now as 23 things introduced me into opening an account and getting on with it.

I have a 19 year old son who often spoke about “tagging”, social networking and what you can find on U-tube and now I can join in – I even introduced him to twitter!! Ha, I’m so proud that I can keep up with the youth of today and I guess deep down that’s the important part!! As Librarians and Information Custodians we must be made aware of the new technologies, especially when working within the University environment, but WOW isn’t there just so much to learn about!!

So, with all that fun new technology out there isn’t it grand to be able to participate in a project, in work time, and working in teams with fellow colleagues – I say YES! Having your colleagues as back up, presenters and reading their blogs is of real help and it’s such a great “teamwork” tool. Even if individuals find it hard to commit the time I was thinking that it could be done as a Section project and one person going along to different sessions and taking responsibility for sharing that session’s information to all other team members – could be a good “bonding experience”

In all, I thoroughly enjoyed working through each workshop and I constantly kept thinking “where would we be without online learning?” I could not always find the time to work from my workspace so I sent sessions to my home email and worked on 23 things from there at times – ever so convenient.

If the opportunity arises for you to participate in such a learning experience then go ahead – go for it – you have nothing to lose except getting lost in this wonderful cyberspace for a few hours – it really is fun!

First past the post

This is my first post for 23 things and it was easy! Self learning is fantastic, although Ihave a painful noise in my ear - known as one's son who thinks he knows it all!

(well i did do it for you haha)

See what I mean!
